The 1993 arcade game Violent Storm has an energetic and relentless soundtrack that will pump you up if you ever have to face a real violent storm such as a hurricane or typhoon. Just in time, Steve Biloba has made an extended remix the stage 3: Downtown music. It has a lengthy rap verse that features some top tier gibberish and transcends the need for a rhyme scheme. This was an remarkable of technical achievement for an arcade game of the time, but came at the cost of over a third of the game’s audio storage.

Steve Biloba ripped those vocal samples and re-created the instrumentation using high quality modern synthesizers. Now the Downtown stage music sounds crispier and juicier than ever. After a repetition or two, Steve goes off the rails messing with the synth settings, adding layers of breakbeats and slicing vocals samples. It all ties up nicely with a ending befitting of an extended dance mix.
